Liverpool fans to be infuriated as Arne Slot embarrasses himself with pre-Aston Villa excuses
Arne Slot will be doing himself zero favours with the frustrated supporters as Liverpool prepare to face Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Harvey Elliott will be allowed to face his parent club, but with the loanee being frozen out by Unai Emery, it is unlikely that he would have featured either way on Saturday, 1 November.
The Villans are just a single place below their opponents in the Premier League table, and after Liverpool lost 3-2 to Brentford before their Carabao Cup exit, the wheels appear to be coming off for Slot.
Despite losing six of their last seven matches, Football Insider understands that Slot is not under immediate pressure at Liverpool, but that could quickly change.

Unai Emery will be hoping to land a killer blow against Liverpool
Villa have not won at Anfield since 2014, with Gabby Agbonlahor scoring the only goal after just nine minutes, but recent form would suggest that Emery could make history this weekend.
Supporters are already worried about Liverpool’s current form, and with Alexander Isak yet to hit the ground running since his move from Newcastle United, things have not yet clicked.
Mohamed Salah is also struggling for any real form, which has been a major problem for his manager, but Slot has other excuses up his sleeve for why his team are so much poorer this season.
His recent comments ahead of a huge game against Villa will only infuriate supporters more, with the Dutchman just sounding like he is listing off excuses for the Reds’ extreme drop in form.
Arne Slot is making embarrassing excuses ahead of Aston Villa
Fans of all Premier League clubs are already getting fed up with Slot’s excuses in the media, and that will be no different after his most recent pre-match press conference.
He said: “I am happy with the team, the quality we have and convinced by the strategy and policy we have. But that makes it the issue, not all of them had a proper pre-season or have been injured.
“So when 3/4 are injured, you go back to 15 or 16. I am convinced 20 is enough but we are struggling to keep them fit for obvious reasons. We have to manage the situation, 3 games in 7 or 8 days. So nothing to do with squad depth, more just injuries and availability of players.”
Which is it? Do Liverpool have enough players? Or there aren’t enough players available because of injuries? The transfer tactics were clearly not thought out properly during the summer, and that is massively backfiring right now.
