Betting favourites: Liverpool fans urge club to sign 23-year-old PL star

By Will Butcher

Liverpool fans are desperate on Twitter to see their owners splash the cash on Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Jurgen Klopp’s side remain favourites to sign the 23-year-old goalkeeper according to Sky Bet, as he continues to impress between the sticks for David Moyes’ beleaguered side.

With Sunderland set to be relegated to the Championship, Pickford could now jump ship with his stock at an all-time high after being nominated for the Premier League’s young player of the year award.

Sunderland’s number 13 has starred for the Black Cats despite facing enormous pressure from overpowering sides this season, during his 25 league and cup appearances.

Fox Sports claim Pickford is only second to Tom Heaton in number of shots saved despite playing nine games fewer, with 108 stops in 22 league games.

Liverpool fans have urged their side to make Pickford their first signing of the summer on Twitter, as doubts continue to arise over both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

With a contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2020, it remains how much Klopp’s side will have to spend on the Sunderland stopper to lure him to Anfield.

In other Liverpool transfer news, £6.8million will seal the deal for teenage star.
