Liverpool handed ‘massive’ Thiago boost after Instagram reveal – pundit
Thiago’s imminent return from injury will be a “massive boost” for a depleted Liverpool, according to Kevin Phillips.
The former England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 30-year-old will be back “fit, fresh, and firing” for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Thiago gave fans a taste of how his recovery is progressing on Wednesday (26 January), posting a short clip on his Instagram of some gym work after returning to fitness following a hip issue (via Anfield Watch on Twitter).
According to The Athletic’s James Pearce (24 January), the 46-cap Spain midfielder could return to the Liverpool lineup in time for their next league engagement against Leicester on 10 February.
Phillips insisted the former Bayern Munich star’s penetrative passing range will be a bonus for Klopp’s side.
“Getting numbers back is massive for Liverpool,” Phillips told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs.
“Having Thiago back will also be positive, even though I wouldn’t say that he’s ripping it up at Liverpool.
“We know what a quality player he is. He’s been at the club a while now, so he really knows what it’s all about.
“Thiago will return fit, fresh and firing after this injury. He has the ability to pick a range of passes and split defences. That will be a massive boost.”

Thiago has made 44 appearances for Liverpool since joining in 2020, scoring three goals.
The Italy-born La Masia graduate is under contract at Anfield until 2024.
