Liverpool have already signed Divock Origi replacement after done deal - pundit

Luis Diaz’s arrival in January means Liverpool do not have to sign another forward if Divock Origi this summer, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back claimed Origi does not play enough to warrant a replacement in the summer.

A recruitment source told Football Insider yesterday (19 March) the 26-year-old will tell Liverpool he wants to leave in the summer.

It is understood he is under contract at Anfield for a further two years and the club have the option to extend that by another 12 months.

However, Liverpool are expected to let him move on in the summer after Diaz usurped him in the pecking order.

Origi has featured in four games since Diaz’s January arrival from FC Porto and Mills has claimed he will not need to be replaced.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “With Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino, he doesn’t play enough games for a new player to be signed.

“I know he comes off the bench and scores some important goals but on the flip side of that if Jurgen Klopp thought he was good enough he would play him from the start a lot more often.

“He’s obviously a good lad to have around, he obviously doesn’t cause any issues even though he doesn’t play on a regular basis.

“He’s not thought highly enough to start games and he probably thinks ‘You know what, I’ve won this, I’ve won that, scored some important goals and I’m still not involved. Maybe it is time to move on’.”

Origi has earned cult hero status amongst the Liverpool fans for a number of crucial late goals.

The Belgium international has 40 goals in 171 games for the Reds, including 68 starts.
