Liverpool have barely-seen ‘superstar’ in their ranks as they’re told to reject Ben Doak offer
Frank McAvennie has urged Ben Doak to stay at Liverpool and continue to be surrounded by “superstars”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and West Ham striker said Doak will learn more by being around the first team and training with them than he would on loan elsewhere.
The 17-year-old was on the bench for the Reds’ 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday (14 January).
The winger was subbed on for the final 20 minutes of the defeat for his fourth appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Doak also replaced Mohamed Salah in the 2-2 FA Cup draw with Wolves last weekend (7 January).
McAvennie urged the former Celtic youth star to stay at Liverpool.
“I do not know why he would want to go on loan,” he told Football Insider.
“Klopp does not have a problem with age, if you are good enough you will be in. If he is in and around the first team, getting on the bench and getting game time, he is better staying at Liverpool.
“You will learn so much from the first team at Liverpool whereas if you go to a club that do not have as much quality as Liverpool, you are not going to learn as much.

“He is only young, if he trains with Salah and [Darwin] Nunez, he is going to become a better player. Someone that young has got to stay.
“Klopp obviously likes him and he has not got a problem with putting youngsters in. If he is getting game time he is better being in an environment with all these superstars, and becoming one himself, rather than going somewhere else.“
