Liverpool have scrapped £30m deal with FSG ‘disappointed’ – Kieran Maguire

Liverpool decided to end their kit agreement with Nike as the guaranteed £30million figure “disappointed” the club.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Reds will be guaranteed a higher flat fee under their Adidas deal.

Liverpool are set to wear Adidas kits from the 2025-26 season after agreeing a five-year deal to replace Nike.

The Merseyside club currently earn a flat fee of £30million from Nike in a unique agreement that also provides the club with a large commission percentage from merchandise sales.

However, Football Insider revealed on Thursday (25 April) that the Reds are set to earn up to £80million per season from the new Adidas deal.

Liverpool ended Nike agreement for guaranteed £80m Adidas payout

Maguire explained that Liverpool may prefer the structure of Adidas’ agreement which guarantees a consistent payout each season.

If there’s one football club that watches the bottom line more than any other, it’s Liverpool under FSG,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

They will have done their sums and perhaps the club was disappointed by the low-fixed sum guaranteed under their Nike deal.

There is a chance that it wasn’t delivering the money they originally anticipated.

As a consequence, they have decided to go with Adidas where they are guaranteed a much higher fee to help grow their revenue.
