Borussia Dortmund defender Nevan Subotic is reportedly eager on a move to the Premier League and that could play right into Liverpool’s hands.
The Mirror claimed in their live transfer blog on Monday [04:31am] that Subotic, 28, is in the final year of his contract at Dortmund and is eager to test himself in England.
Liverpool are in need of defensive reinforcements and it is largely seen as a problem area in their squad after leaking goals against Watford and Hoffenheim in recent weeks.
Subotic has won two Bundesliga titles during his time at Dortmund but in recent seasons his career has been ravaged by a spate of serious injury problems.
Last term he played just 14 times across all competitions after undergoing surgery and he is yet to feature off the bench in Dortmund’s first four fixtures.

However, with the Serb so keen on a switch to the Premier League, his injury woes may now be behind him as he reaches the peak of what has been a very impressive career.
Liverpool are widely reported to be in pursuit of Virgil van Dijk and even if the Reds do land the Dutchman, they should still try to lure Subotic away from Dortmund to reunite with his former manager Jurgen Klopp to add extra depth and cover to the team.
The Reds need to pad out their squad and give it a lot more balance, and Subotic would fit the bill perfectly, bringing experience and a relationship with the manager that will definitely be worth spending a bit of money on.
