Liverpool and Arsenal are set to battle for the signature of Bordeaux striker Gaetan Laborde, according to a report.
French outlet Foot Mercato claim that the two Premier League giants are both interested in signing the 23-year-old.
It is understood that they have enquired about the availability of the forward, who is still under contract until 2020 with his parent club.
Laborde was in good form last year for Ligue 1 club Bordeaux as they finished sixth in the league.
The French striker made 42 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 13 goals and supplying five assists in return.
He is yet to experience club football outside of his homeland, but his performances in the past 12 months have caught the attention of some English clubs.
Football Insider verdict:
Liverpool need to bolster their frontline following their return to the Champions League next season as attacker Roberto Firmino operated in the central role during most of the last campaign. Bordeaux striker Laborde looks a good talent and his 13-goal tally last year proves he can be effective in front of goal. However, that was his best season to date in Ligue 1 and the 23-year-old is yet to really make a major breakthrough. Liverpool need to be more ambitious in the transfer market if they want to challenge for silverware by signing players such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette. All of their Premier League rivals have a prolific goalscorer in their ranks and the Reds now need to splash the cash on a new recognised goalscorer.
In other Liverpool transfer news, they have fielded a £13million bid for their defender.
