Jurgen Klopp has identified Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele as the replacement for exit-bound Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, according to a report.
Spanish football outlet Diario Gol claim that Salah is almost certain to quit Liverpool this summer after his sensational exploits put Europe’s richest clubs on red alert.
It is said that Barcelona are keen to get rid of Dembele as they pave the way for the expected arrival of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid in the forthcoming window.
Dembele has struggled to make an impact at Barcelona after his £99million transfer from Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund last summer.
He has scored just one goal and supplied six assists from 14 appearances in all competitions in a campaign in which he was sidelined for three months with a thigh injury.
Football Insider verdict:
Replacing Salah with the Dembele of 2017-18 would almost be as daft as paying £100million for the France international last summer. Barcelona got it badly wrong by overpaying massively for the 20-year-old in the most perplexing deal of all as executives started firing euros around in the final weeks of August. The Spanish press were not wrong on Philippe Coutinho-Barcelona but there is no kernel of truth in the Salah-certain-to-quit line. It is garbage and whoever wrote it should hang their head in shame. Trust us, Salah is going nowhere.
In other Liverpool news, the club are to table a mega goal machine offer, he will certainly be at Anfield in 18/19.
