Liverpool in pole position to sign Jude Bellingham after source’s reveal today – expert

Jude Bellingham may choose to join Liverpool because of the influence of Jurgen Klopp, according to Alex McLeish.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Rangers, Aston Villa and Scotland manager insisted Bellingham is an “exceptional talent” who is living up to the hype.

The Telegraph reported earlier this week (28 September) that Chelsea are ready to enter the race for the 19-year-old but sources with knowledge of his situation have told Football Insider today that Liverpool are in pole position after laying extensive groundwork for a 2023 deal.

Liverpool

It is claimed Chelsea know that both Liverpool and Real Madrid are leading the race as Borussia Dortmund look set to cash in on the midfielder next summer.

Madrid and Liverpool have already established contact with the player’s camp and Man City could still enter the race.

Bellingham will only have two years left on his contract at that point and is valued at £130million by Dortmund.

“It depends on Bellingham, it’s his choice of team,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Maybe, he signs for the manager as well. Jurgen Klopp being the manager, and now he’s in Germany he’ll know the language a little bit.

“Bellingham’s got a great choice to make, let’s face it. He’s burst on the scene and there were high expectations. Over the last couple of years, he’s been mentioned in high regard.

“We are now seeing the proof in the pudding on the pitch. He is an exceptional talent.”

Liverpool

Bellingham has 13 goals and 18 assists in 100 games for Dortmund since his move from Birmingham City in the summer of 2020.

The 17-time England international has proven his worth in the big games with six goals in 20 European games.

In other news, Liverpool are “digging in their heels” as a £250million deal is “leaked”.
