Liverpool news: Kenny ‘devastated’ by ‘heartbreaking news’ from Klopp ahead of West Ham clash

It is “heartbreaking news” for Liverpool that Jurgen Klopp still plans to quit the club in two years’ time.

That is according to former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the manager’s intention to leave when his contract expires.

Klopp revealed at his media conference on Friday that his current plan is to say “thank you very much” and bid farewell in the summer of 2024.

The 54-year-old German coach has transformed Liverpool’s fortunes during his seven-year reign and his status as one of the most important figures in the club’s history is already secured.

“He is pretty much irreplaceable,” Kenny told Football Insider. “Apart from being one of the best managers in the world, and maybe even the best, his love and enthusiasm for Liverpool stands out like a beacon.

“The players love him, the fans love him and even neutrals love him.

“It’s heartbreaking news for Liverpool fans that he intends to leave in two years, devastating for them. They should enjoy him while he’s still there.”

“The plan at the moment is to get to 2024 and then, ‘Thank you very much’,” Klopp said on Friday.

Asked what would influence his decision, he added: “If I have the energy level for it. I love what I do, but I said a couple of times that there must be something else out there in the world, apart from always thinking about very skilled, good-looking, fantastically nice football players!”

Klopp’s resurgent Liverpool side are competing for an unprecedented quadruple this season.

Last weekend, they added the League Cup to his Champions League, Premier League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup triumphs.

In other news, Liverpool are well on course to make extraordinary £550million-plus announcement.
