Liverpool have landed Falkirk left-back Tony Gallacher on a trial, in which the 18-year-old will train with the team ahead of a proposed deal, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun are claiming that Gallacher was the subject of interest from multiple Brittish clubs, but is to spend the week training with Liverpool.
Should the trial go according to plan then Liverpool will move to permanently sign the defender in what has been described as a ‘six-figure’ deal.
Any deal between the clubs would happen this January, according to the Scottish Sun, although he is not expected to be joining the first team just yet, as reports suggest he is in Jurgen Klopp’s developmental plans.
Football Insider verdict:
Tony Gallacher could be a long-term solution at full-back for the Reds, and Jurgen Klopp has had success in delivering quality from youth prospects at that position, as evidenced by Joe Gomez. This deal could suit all parties involved, as Gallacher still has time to develop in the game, aged only 18. Gallacher is already a physical prospect, and made his debut in the tough Scottish League aged only 16 – so with time, he should easily be able to compete in the Premier League.
