Liverpool launch summer signing spree as Darwin Nunez set to leave – sources
Liverpool are putting plans in place for a busy summer transfer window and the recruitment team are already working hard, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Reds are looking to strengthen at left-back, right-back, holding midfield and centre-back when the window opens.
As a result, number of first-team stars and players on the fringes of Arne Slot’s plans could make way in order to free up space in the squad.
Meanwhile, another key position for Slot is at striker, where a deal could depend on the departure of Darwin Nunez, who will be allowed to leave Anfield this summer.
Football Insider revealed in March that Nunez is first in line to leave Liverpool and could push for an immediate move away after being left frustrated by his fringe role in recent months.
After the Reds spent £85million to sign the forward from Benfica in 2022, they are aiming to make a significant fee back which will be reinvested in the squad.

Darwin Nunez sale to fund Alexander Isak deal at Liverpool
Football Insider exclusively revealed in February that Slot sees Alexander Isak as the perfect striker and the interest in the Newcastle United star is “genuine”.
More recently, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Isak’s talks over a new deal have stalled amid ongoing speculation about his move to Anfield.
Nunez’s potential departure would free up transfer funds and wages to meet the striker’s lofty asking price, which is expected to be placed at around £150million.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will also turn their attentions towards improving the rest of their squad this summer after their lack of business in the last 12 months.
Slot is expecting to be backed following agreements over Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk’s futures have provided a fresh boost to his squad.

Harvey Elliott update emerges ahead of summer overhaul
As Liverpool plan to clear wages off the bill to make room for incoming signings, a number of their first-team stars have been earmarked for potential departures.
Brown told Football Insider on 8 April that Liverpool are open to offers for Harvey Elliott as the 21-year-old’s long-term future at Anfield remains up in the air.]
This comes after Football Insider revealed Elliot has been disappointed by his lack of opportunities since Slot took over last summer.
However, their current £50million asking price is set to deter any interest parties from making moves to sign him and they may instead listen to lower offers.
