Robbie Fowler: This is what Brad Friedel told me about Tottenham sensation years ago
By Matt Farr
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has revealed that he was told by Brad Friedel years ago that Tottenham ace Harry Kane could be a “bit special”.
In his column for the Daily Mirror, Fowler described the England international as an “overnight sensation”, praising his desire and dedication since breaking into the senior setup.
Kane has been in sensational goalscoring form yet again for Tottenham this season, netting nine times from 13 games in all competitions.
The 23-year-old now has an incredible 68 goals from 114 appearances since breaking into Tottenham’s first-team setup, while he has also established himself as England’s leading man on the international stage.
Having to fight his way into the team, Fowler praised Kane’s hard work and wrote in the Mirror: “He’s the overnight sensation, who worked hard for a decade to become one.

“I remember, years and years ago, Brad Friedel, telling me Tottenham had this kid coming through the junior teams who was a bit special and had a chance. That kid was Harry Kane.
“What marks him out, though, is not the talent. It’s his dedication and desire to work hard and improve, even when things didn’t go right for him.”
Fowler went on to add that there was no reason why Kane couldn’t go on to be as good as the previous Spurs legends, Jimmy Greaves, Gary Lineker and Teddy Sheringham.
Spurs finished third in the Premier League last season, and qualified for the Champions League, thanks largely to Kane’s goalscoring heroics.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are fifth in the league this season, and despite exiting the Champions League at the group-stage, Kane looks set to lead them to new heights yet again.
The striker signed a new deal with the club in November that will keep him at White Hart Lane for the next six years, dismissing interest from title challengers Manchester United.
In other Tottenham news, Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing this Inter Milan midfielder in January.
