Liverpool ‘putting Trent Alexander-Arnold mega money on the table’
Liverpool are lining up a “mega-money” contract offer in an attempt to keep Trent Alexander-Arnold at the club amid interest from Real Madrid.
This is according to former Man United, Blackburn and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the club will “bend over backwards” in their attempts to convince him.
Liverpool are working hard to tie the right-back down to a new deal and are said to be confident despite the speculation over his future.
The 26-year-old will be able to negotiate terms over a pre-contract deal from January ahead of a permanent move in the summer.
As a result, the reigning Champions League winners and Spanish champions are said to be intent on bringing him to the club to replace the ageing Dani Carvajal.
They are looking to make Alexander-Arnold their latest Galactico signing following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, as Football Insider revealed that Madrid are pushing to complete a deal.
Liverpool to offer Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘mega-money’ deal
Brown told Football Insider on 19 November that the right-back is likely to delay making a decision about his future until closer to the end of the season.
Now, the former scout who spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period and has a wealth of experience working closely with players, has insisted that Liverpool remain as determined as ever to commit him to a new deal.
“Liverpool are trying everything to convince Alexander-Arnold,” he told Football Insider.
“They’re going to bend over backwards to keep him at the club.
“From what I’ve heard, they’re willing to put mega money on the table because they don’t want to lose him.
“They’ll consider, as well, how much it would cost to replace him. In a situation like this, offering him higher wages may help them save money.
“The perception of the fans matters too – they must be seen to be doing all they can.

“If they do everything in their remit to tie him down to a new deal and he still leaves, that’s his choice and the fans will have to accept it.
“But if he’s just allowed to walk away without much of an effort to keep him, there’ll be issues.”
