Liverpool losing £250,000 each day as injury crisis deepens – Exclusive

Liverpool are currently paying out £1.5million per week to players currently sidelined with injury, Football Insider can reveal.

The Reds are set to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday afternoon (25 February) but will potentially face the Blues without nine first-team players.

Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez are the latest to join the injury list at Anfield after missing the club’s 4-1 win over Luton Town on Wednesday evening.

The duo are in contention to return for the cup final on the weekend, but Klopp is still set to be without Joel Matip, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara.

When asked about Liverpool’s injury crisis, manager Jurgen Klopp said: “The situation is not great, absolutely not. We don’t know, we go day by day.”

Football Insider can reveal that Liverpool’s injury list are costing £1.5million in wages per week that they are sidelined.

Salah is the club’s top earner with a salary of over £350,000 per week, while long-term absentee Thiago Alcantara pockets £200,000 weekly.

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez are also among the club’s top earners with weekly wages over £150,000.

As reported by The Mirror, the winners of the Carabao Cup are set to earn just £100,000 with the runners-up earning £50,000.

Alisson, Jota and Matip are expected to be long-term absentees for the Reds with the latter not expected to return until the 2024-25 season – the trio will earn £1.6million between them over the next month while remaining sidelined.
