Liverpool make Alisson transfer decision ‘from what I’ve heard’ – Insider
Liverpool are unlikely to cash in on Alisson in next summer’s transfer window despite growing concerns about his injury record.
This is according to recruitment expert Mick Brown, who worked as a scout for Man United and Tottenham among others and remains very well-connected in the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Liverpool remain committed to the goalkeeper.
Reports have claimed the goalkeeper will be ruled out until after the November international break after picking up a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace.
This is the latest of a number of issues the 32-year-old has suffered recently, having missed 21 games for the club and country since the start of the 2023-24 season.
He has already missed two games so far this season after a thigh injury, with the hamstring injury set to see him sidelined for another seven fixtures.
However, there is an understanding at Anfield that the goalkeeper remains among the best in the world, and they are reluctant to see him leave as a result.
Amid speculation surrounding the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the club are keen to be seen backing their current crop of stars.
Liverpool unlikely to sanction Alisson sale despite injury woes
Liverpool completed the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili during the summer before loaning him back to Valencia, with suggestions he could take over from Alisson upon his return.
However, Brown, who spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that the Reds will remain faithful to the Brazilian and hope he can overcome his injury concerns and remain their number one.
“I don’t think they’ll look to get rid of him,” he told Football Insider.
“They’ll keep their finger on the pulse with his injury issues, but he’s regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world and I’ve heard they want to stick by him.
“Unless there’s something about this new injury which we don’t know, I understand they’ll want to keep him.
“It’s always difficult to manage your first and second-choice keepers.
“The way to do it is, like they have with their new man [Mamardashvili], is to send him out on loan.
“But will he be able to step in when he comes back? And what will they do with Kelleher?
“I think Kelleher, as well, is a very good goalkeeper and he’s never done anything wrong when he’s been called upon, which has been quite often.

“As far as Alisson goes, though, I’m quite sure they want him to be their number one for the foreseeable future, despite his injuries.”
