Liverpool make approach for £55m-rated title-holder as Tottenham discuss move - report
By Danny Wright
Liverpool have approached Monaco with an enquiry for Thomas Lemar, according to a report.
The Telegraph claims that the Reds are lining up a club record £55million swoop for Lemar, 21, but the move is in no way linked to the countless Barcelona bids rejected for Philippe Coutinho.
The report says that it is unclear whether or not Barca will table one final offer for the Brazil international before the transfer window slams shut later this week.
It is understood that Liverpool made their approach for Lemar earlier this summer and their interest in him remains active despite Arsenal pulling out of the race to sign him.
One Premier League team that the Merseysiders may have to be wary of is Tottenham, who are believed to have been discussing a potential move for the five-times France international, who won the Ligue 1 title with Monaco last season.

However the Telegraph goes on to report that Monaco are unwilling to sell the attack-mind winger this summer having already seen a host of their star players depart.
Lemar was a key part of the title-winning side of last term, scoring 14 goals and supplying 17 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions.
Football Insider Verdict
Lemar is a very good player that would perhaps walk into the starting 11 of every team in the Premier League. However Liverpool simply do not need him. The Reds attack is in scorching form at the moment and that is even without the injury Coutinho. Jurgen Klopp must focus his entire efforts on sorting out a defence that is shown as being frail even when playing the weakest of opponents. Tottenham on the other hand have money to spend and are in need of attacking reinforcements. However Monaco seem reluctant to sell and it’s hard to blame them when they’ve been torn apart from Europe’s richest teams this summer.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds are looking to sell this young colossus as a trio of English clubs circle.
