Liverpool manager Arne Slot ‘one defeat away from crisis’ in ‘big’ update
Liverpool have endured a difficult run of form recently, leading to growing questions about their performances under Arne Slot.
The Reds ended their recent run of four straight defeats as Slot’s side beat Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 in the Champions League, leading to growing optimism of a return to form.
However, some doubts have lingered ahead of their return to domestic football, with a string of difficult games coming up and clear issues emerging in the squad.
Liverpool don’t look like the imperious team who won the Premier League last season, and will now face Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Man City inside three weeks.
Slot has come under pressure at Liverpool after their recent run of defeats in the league, and they are now at risk of falling behind in the title race.

Arne Slot ‘one defeat away from crisis’ at Liverpool
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are concerned about Slot as a result of their recent poor form.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, failing to win against Brentford on 25 October will see the pressure on the boss ramped up yet again and questioned could be asked as a result.
As is the case with any top team aiming to win silverware, Liverpool are one defeat away from a crisis, with their return to domestic action seen as a crucial fixture.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “It’s a big period coming up for Liverpool, it was a big win in their midweek Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
“They desperately needed that victory to end the rut that had set in, having suffered four defeats in a row for the first time since 2014 I think.
“Obviously, results dictate whoever the manager is, if you’re not performing well enough and not getting results, it brings pressure.
“It doesn’t matter who you are, whether you’re Arne Slot, who won the Premier League with Liverpool last season, or anybody else.
“At any big club, you’re only one defeat away from a possible crisis.
“As you said, it’s a big period for Liverpool, they’ve got a tough game away to Brentford this weekend and they really can’t afford to drop too many more points in the Premier League if they are to keep pace with the leading pack in Arsenal.”
Slot has been slammed for his decision-making in recent weeks, but got the major calls right against Frankfurt and must now do so again when they face Brentford.
Slot is concerned about four of Liverpool’s star players
While pressure has begun to grow around the manager and his recent decisions and results, questions are also being asked of some of the Reds’ star players.
Brown told Football Insider on 23 October that Slot is worried about his Liverpool stars, with “major concerns” about some of their performances in recent weeks.
Alongside a host of other key players, Isak and Wirtz are causing concerns for Liverpool after struggling to adjust to their big-money summer moves to Anfield.

Last season’s success at Anfield saw the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold on top form, helping the Reds dominate their rivals.
However, both Van Dijk and Salah have seen major dips in form lately, while the likes of Alexander Isak and Milos Kerkez have struggled to adapt to the club.
