Bellingham 'on cusp' of move and can 'explode' at Liverpool after source's reveal - ex-Birmingham manager

Jude Bellingham has been “on the cusp” of a Premier League move for some time and would “explode” if he signed for Liverpool.

So says ex-Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s potential return to England.

This site revealed last Wednesday (22 December) that Borussia Dortmund have opened talks with Bellingham over a new deal and are trying to sign his younger brother Jobe to help get it over the finish line.

A German source told Football Insider that the Bundesliga giants are keen to tie the 18-year-old down amid strong interest from Liverpool and other elite teams.

Bellingham, who already has 10 caps for England, remains under contract at Dortmund until 2025.

But McLeish predicts that the Birmingham academy graduate could be set to flourish back in his home country with Liverpool.

“Some people coming to the Premier League take a while to find their feet,” he told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“It is now the quickest, strongest league in the world in terms of athleticism. But there’s no doubt a guy like that will be interesting many teams.

“Bellingham has been on the cusp for two or three years now. You’re waiting for him to explode at one of the bigger clubs and see what he can do.

Bellingham has enjoyed an outstanding first half of the season in Germany, scoring three times and laying on nine assists.

Football Insider understands that Dortmund are trying to tempt the youngster into a new deal by signing his 16-year-old brother, Jobe.
