Kieran Maguire expects Liverpool to seal multiple ‘new deals’ as ‘big’ hire on the way
The next top commercial director at Liverpool will play a major role in their financial fair play standing – and therefore the transfer budget.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the vacancy left by Matt Scammell at Anfield.
The Daily Mail reported last Sunday that Scammell is leaving Liverpool to become chief commercial officer at motorsport giant Formula E.

The business wiz has since confirmed the news via his personal LinkedIn account.
Scammell, who previously spent nine years across various positions at Man United, has been with Liverpool since June 2020.
He presided over the Merseysiders’ business department as they turnover over £217million in commercial income for the 2019-20 campaign.
Maguire emphasised how “crucial” the top commercial position at Liverpool is and explained what they will look for in Scammell’s successor.
“They’ll be looking for somebody who knows the brand of the club,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“They will want someone who appreciates the fact that they have a global following. They need to harness that.
“I also think someone who can identify markets where Liverpool have been historically underrepresented and generate new deals.
“That will generate additional revenues which is crucial in allowing Jurgen Klopp to retain and recruit players of the standard the fans expect.”

Liverpool are expected to release their accounts for the 2020-21 campaign in the coming weeks.
Man City are the only Premier League team so far to have posted a profit for the Covid-hit season.
