Liverpool news: Campbell slams FA for setting ‘dangerous precedent’ after journalist’s reveal
Kevin Campbell has claimed the Football Association would be setting “a dangerous precedent” by allowing big clubs like Liverpool to scrap FA Cup replays this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League striker said the decision could come at a cost to smaller clubs who rely on gate receipts from such fixtures.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Matt Hughes (21 September), FA Cup replays are set to be scrapped for teams in Europe this season to ease the fixture congestion.

Liverpool, Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal have already had two of their matches postponed.
Campbell claimed the FA should be “looking out for the small guys” and not the ‘Big Six.’
“It is a dangerous precedent to set,” he told Football Insider.
“It favours big clubs like Liverpool over everybody else.
“I suppose it works if you get to penalties and knock the big side out. At least you would be in the next round but you cannot guarantee that. It is difficult.
“At the end of the day, get a replay in. This season is difficult with the World Cup but get the replay booked. Just play it. Give these smaller clubs the opportunity to make money.
“It can make a huge difference to smaller clubs. It would not be good for smaller clubs. They deserve to go to big grounds and get the gate money. It can change the fortunes of these clubs.
“This is geared for the big clubs. The FA Cup should be looking after the small guys as far as I’m concerned.”
