Liverpool news: Expert fears Thiago Alcantara injury ‘doesn’t look good’ after journalist’s update

Paul Robinson fears Thiago Alcantara’s injury “does not look good” for Liverpool ahead of the title run-in.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said “you worry” after seeing the 30-year-old’s reaction to missing out on the League Cup final.

Thiago was named in the starting XI for Sunday’s game against Chelsea but was forced to withdraw after injuring himself in the warm-up.

As pictured by the Liverpool Echo (27 February), the centre-midfielder was devastated and had to be consoled on the bench by Alisson Becker.

According to The Times’ Paul Joyce (28 February), Thiago suffered a tight hamstring prior to match, which Jurgen Klopp’s side won on penalties.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Thiago’s injury and reaction, Robinson said: “It doesn’t look good , does it.

“We don’t know the exact extent of the injury but you worry after seeing his reaction. You just hope that he was upset to be missing out on the final, rather than the fact that it’s a long-term injury.

“It’s been very stop-start for him at Liverpool. He’s struggled to put a decent runs of games together.

“Klopp will be desperately hoping it’s nothing serious because he’s one of their best players when he’s fully fit.”
