Liverpool news: Fans rage at ‘shocking’ new Paul Tierney development – ‘Is this a joke?’

PGMOL have been slaughtered by fans for their “shocking” decision on referee Paul Tierney after his blunder allowed Liverpool to beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday (2 March).

Tierney was removed from on-field refereeing duties after his crucial mistake led to the Reds securing a controversial 1-0 win but is now set to assume VAR responsibilities for Arsenal’s upcoming clash against Brentford on Saturday evening (9 March)

He awarded Liverpool possession following an incident involving Ibrahima Konate in the closing moments of the game, when Forest had possession, despite the law stipulating that the hosts should have been given the ball.

Two minutes later, Darwin Nunez scored a 99th-minute winner which sparked outrage among Forest fans, coaches and owner Evangelos Marinakis.

PGMOL’s Tierney decision is a ‘joke’ after his Liverpool blunder

Fans are seething that Tierney has been allowed to officiate on Arsenal, a direct title rival to Liverpool who are just two points below them, despite the fact he has been temporarily demoted for his major error.

Supporters have taken to social media to react to the “joke” decision, and they have blasted PGMOL as a “corrupt” and “incompetent” body.
