Liverpool news: FSG may be ignoring Jurgen Klopp as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah contract claims issued - pundit
The Liverpool hierarchy may ignore Jurgen Klopp’s wishes and not break the bank to secure Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to new contracts, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Klopp’s new deal will have little impact on the futures of Salah and Mane.
The 54-year-old committed his future to Liverpool until the summer of 2026 by penning a new four-year deal last week (30 April).
As quoted by BBC Sport the next day (29 April), he insisted it will not be a “decisive” factor in Salah and Mane’s next steps.
The pair, 29 and 30, respectively, are both out of contract at the end of next season and so are Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino.
“When it comes to contracts, Klopp doesn’t really have as much of a say as maybe other managers do at other clubs,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Liverpool may have a policy in place which means there will be people higher than Klopp who decide how much they pay, what length of contract they can give to players at certain ages.
“As much as Klopp will want Salah and Mane to stay it might be out of his hands in terms of what the club can offer them both.”
Despite their advancing years, both Salah and Mane have both proven their worth to Liverpool this season as they chase a historic quadruple.
They have scored 50 goals between them this term across all competitions and have been boosted by the arrival of Luis Diaz in January.
