Liverpool news: Major Jeremie Frimpong update as ‘urgent’ details emerge – sources

Liverpool have Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong on their radar, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke explained that a potential switch to Anfield for Frimpong could push Trent Alexander-Arnold into midfield.

But O’Rourke also noted that there is no urgency to sign the 23-year-old given the emergence of Conor Bradley at Anfield.

The Northern Ireland international has come in for the injured Alexander-Arnold under Jurgen Klopp in recent matches.

Sources have told Football Insider (3 April) that Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal are all in the hunt for Frimpong, who will be available via a £35million release clause in the summer window.

The full-back has registered an incredible 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions from his relatively deep role for Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Having come through the ranks at Manchester City, Frimpong impressed at Celtic before his move to Germany.

But Bradley has also impressed in the same position on Merseyside, with O’Rourke explaining that the Northern Ireland international will be eager to nail down a starting spot there for the foreseeable future.
