Liverpool news: Joe Gomez tipped to push for Tottenham move after ‘great’ update – Whelan
Noel Whelan has tipped Liverpool defender Joe Gomez to push for a transfer to Tottenham this summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted it would be a “great move” for both the 24-year-old and the north Londoners.
As reported by 90 Min on Thursday (10 March), Gomez is looking to leave Liverpool in search of regular game time.

The report claims the defender is hoping to force his way back into the England reckoning ahead of the World Cup.
Tottenham are reportedly among the centre-back’s suitors, with Leicester, Newcastle and West Ham all said to be interested.
Whelan suggested a move “back home” could work out perfectly for the London-born star.
Asked about a potential switch to Spurs, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think it’d be a great move.
“You’ve got Ben Davies playing as a left-sided centre-back. Really, you’d like to push him a little bit further forward in that left wing-back role if possible.
“If you had somebody like Gomez, with his experience at the back, along with Dier and Romero, what a formidable three that would be.
“I think it’d really make a difference having somebody like Joe Gomez back there.
“He’d be going back home, pretty much. Charlton is where he started. It would make sense to want to go back to that neck of the woods.
“For Tottenham, I think that would be an improvement on what they need in terms of that defensive stability. A back three you can really trust.
“He’s somebody that knows and is proven in the Premier League.”

Gomez has started just six games across all competitions this season.
He has made five Premier League appearances, four of which came from the bench.
