Liverpool news: Luis Diaz may force superstar to quit after source’s reveal – pundit

Luis Diaz’s instant impact at Liverpool may see Sadio Mane force an exit from Anfield, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender praised Liverpool’s “good planning” with the clock ticking on Mane’s contract.

A recruitment source told Football Insider on Friday (4 March) the winger fears the club want him out with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2023.

He had hoped to secure his long-term future by now and is concerned about the ongoing stalemate in negotiations over a new contract.

“What Liverpool have done with their transfer policy and the players they have brought in is prepare for what’s after Mane, what’s after Mo Salah,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“With the signings they’ve brought in you can understand it. Luis Diaz looks a real player with out-and-out quality. He can play through the middle and off either wing.

“It’s good recruitment and good planning from Liverpool, looking at the long-term.

“Mane and Salah are not going to go on forever. There will come a point where they will have to be replaced, for whatever reason, and that might be in 18 months time or it could be in two or three years time.

“They are putting into place things now to combat that. For whatever reason, if Mane is not happy and wants to move on, so be it. He could now go, for sure.”

Mane, who turns 30 next month, is still one of the first names on the Liverpool team sheet despite Diaz‘s impact.

He has scored 13 goals and contributed two assists in 32 matches in all competitions this season.

In other news, it can be revealed Liverpool are on course to make a “phenomenal” £550million announcement.
