Liverpool news: Pundit details ‘the truth’ about Darwin Nunez after talkSPORT claim
Kevin Campbell “does not agree” with the criticism Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is receiving.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the 23-year-old has been “a scapegoat” for Liverpool’s poor start to the Premier League season.
Nunez scored his seventh goal of the season as the Reds beat Napoli 2-0 on Tuesday night (1 November).
The Uruguay international was a second-half substitute in the Champions League clash at Anfield.
Speaking on talkSPORT (31 October), Tony Cascarino said Nunez “is not ready” for the Liverpool first team.
Cascarino added in his column for The Times (31 October) that the striker is only “a minor upgrade” on Divock Origi.
Campbell is adamant Jurgen Klopp’s side look better when Nunez is in it.
“When things are not going well, flak tends to fly,” he told Football Insider. “There is a lot of flak.
“The team has not been functioning right. There is always a scapegoat for whatever reason. There is always a fall guy but I do not agree that it should be Nunez though.

“The truth is, when Nunez doesn’t play Liverpool are not as threatening. They look more dangerous when he is on the pitch.
“He is still learning the Premier League. He is not used to it. Has he got wonderful attributes and talent? 100 per cent. Will it take him time to fulfil his potential? Of course.”
