Liverpool news: Pundit hails 'another brilliant bit of business' after Takumi Minamino update
Liverpool have pulled off “another brilliant bit of business” with Takumi Minamino set to leave the club.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Japan star’s imminent departure.
On Wednesday (22 June) a recruitment source told Football Insider that Minamino, 27, had snubbed Wolves to sign for Monaco in a £15.5million deal.
Kenny insists all parties will be happy with the deal and claims the Reds will reinvest the transfer fee this summer.
“Liverpool know what they are doing in the transfer market,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“For them to get another good price for yet another player who hasn’t really done much, it’s another brilliant bit of business.

“Sometimes all parties are happy to leave because it hasn’t quite worked out for him at Liverpool.
“He had that loan spell at Southampton but it didn’t really work there for him, I don’t think they were ever going to sign him.
“He is a good player but there is so much competition for places in that Liverpool attack, if he wants to play then he has to leave.
“They are getting a good price for him so they can reinvest that into the transfer pot for another signing, I think everyone is happy.”
Minamino scored 10 goals in 24 total outings for Liverpool during the recently-concluded season, his best goalscoring campaign for the club.
The Japan star has failed to nail down a regular starting place in Jurgen Klopp’s side since joining from RB Salzburg in December 2020.
