Liverpool news: Pundit issues ‘100 per cent’ Mohamed Salah claim after £62.4m reveal
Liverpool were “100 per cent” right to hand Mohamed Salah a lucrative new contract, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted there should be no concerns about the “incredible” 30-year-old’s age.
On 1 July, Liverpool announced Salah had put pen to paper on a new three-year deal at Anfield.
Football Insider understands (2 July) that the Egypt international will earn £62.4million in wages over the course of the contract.
Salah finished the 2021-22 campaign the Premier League’s joint Golden Boot winner.
When asked by Football Insider if the Reds were right to reward the forward with such wages, Campbell said: “100 per cent.
“There is no doubt about it.
“You could say that there has been no better player in the world than him over the past 12 months. For three-quarters of last season he was untouchable. Let’s be honest, he was untouchable.
“He just keeps improving. Fair enough, he is 30 but he does not play like he is slowing down. He plays like he is on warp speed. The guy is incredible.
“Liverpool were always going to push the chips his way after [Sadio] Mane left. I think it is right. He deserves it.

“He has been incredible for Liverpool. It was one or the other as to who got the big contract. Salah has been so instrumental.
“I think it is a really good bit of business from Liverpool.”
