Liverpool news: Pundit issues ‘big’ claim on Caoimhin Kelleher potentially quitting after ‘incredible’ reveal
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Caoimhin Kelleher to stay at Liverpool despite his limited game time.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted Kelleher should “enjoy the ride” at a “big club” like Liverpool.
The goalkeeper was the hero on Sunday (27 February) as he scored the winning penalty in the Reds’ shootout victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup.
He was then axed from the starting XI on Wednesday (2 March) as Jurgen Klopp’s side progressed to the FA Cup quarter-final with a 2-1 win over Norwich City at Anfield.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo on Tuesday (1 March), Klopp insisted Kelleher had “developed incredibly well” at Anfield and there were no plans on letting him go in the summer.
“He will want to play regularly,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“But Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world so he has to come straight back in. Sometimes, goalkeepers get injured. There are worst clubs to be at as second-choice, he’s in front of Adrian now.
“If I was him, I’d stay there. Alisson has his fair share of injuries so I’d definitely stay there and enjoy the ride of Liverpool. One day, you never know, you might be playing in a Champions League final.
“Alisson does get his fair share of injuries that’s why if you’re Kelleher you stay there and stay involved in such a big club.”

Kellher now has 17 Liverpool appearances across all competitions under his belt.
The Republic of Ireland international is under contract at the club until the summer of 2026.
