Liverpool news: Pundit issues two-word verdict on Roberto Firmino future after latest news
Liverpool will offer Roberto Firmino a new long-term contract despite his worrying injury record this season.
That is the view of former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 30-year-old’s future on Merseyside.
Firmino has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Anfield.

A Reds source told Football Insider (12 February) that the club plan to offer the Brazil international a new deal.
As reported by the Daily Mail‘s Dominic King (24 January), Firmino will miss this Sunday’s League Cup final because of an abductor injury.
It would be the 15th game the forward has missed this season because of injury.
When asked if Firmino’s injury problems could have a bearing on talks, Robinson issued a two-word verdict to Football Insider: “No way.
“It is just one of those seasons for Firmino. He is getting a lot of unfortunate injuries.
“Yes, he is missing a lot of games but he has got far too much credit in the bank for that to effect contract talks.

“Like [Mohamed] Salah and [Sadio] Mane, I expect the club to be desperate to get him tied down to a new deal. The fact that his injury record has not been good will not have any effect on contract negotiations.
“They need to tie him down as soon as possible. At the same time, if they don’t, they have top quality players like Jota and Diaz in reserve now.”
In other news, a pundit has claimed one Liverpool player ‘needs to leave right now’ as a move to European giants is tipped.
