Liverpool news: Pundit ridicules 'embarrassing' plan amid Jurgen Klopp quotes via BBC
Frank McAvennie has backed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after Chelsea owner Todd Boehly suggested the Premier League host a showpiece north vs south fixture.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker questioned when the friendly would be played given the fixture schedule.
Speaking at a press-conference in New York (14 September), Boehly claimed the Premier League should introduce an All-Star game.
The new owner at Stamford Bridge suggested the money generated could be used to help fund the football pyramid.
As quoted by the BBC (14 September), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was unimpressed and laughed off such a proposal.
Klopp questioned when the game would be played and whether players from rival clubs would like to lineup together.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the suggestion put forward by Todd Boehly, McAvennie said: “I cannot see that point in it.
“They will be wanting cheerleaders next.
“There is enough games getting played already without a friendly. When are they going to fit this game in?
“Imagine saying to the players, ‘You have to wait a week until you go for your summer because we are having a north vs south game. Really?
“My Mrs always says, ‘Engage your brain before you start talking.’ He has obviously just opened his mouth without thinking. He will be embarrassed about it because that is never going to happen.”
