Liverpool news: Pundit verdict on 'devastating blow' after Fabinho update
Alex McLeish has insisted the versatility of Jordan Henderson means Liverpool have not suffered a “devastating blow” after Fabinho’s injury scare against Aston Villa.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, tipped the 31-year-old England international to take the Brazilian’s place in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea.
As quoted by the Athletic’s James Pearce on Tuesday night (10 May), Klopp confirmed Fabinho, 28, picked up a muscle problem in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
The German boss revealed the Brazilian was feeling “quite positive” in the dressing room.
Henderson came on for Fabinho after 30 minutes at Villa Park.
With the Reds facing Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday, McLeish tipped the 31-year-old England international to start.

“There is an able replacement in that role in Jordan Henderson,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Fabinho has been instrumental to their success. Henderson has kind of been in and out the team recently. Klopp has spared him in terms of his playing minutes.
“But he is capable of doing that role. He has the experience of playing in three or four different roles.
“To lose Fabinho for these massive games coming up would be a blow for Liverpool and Klopp. I’m not saying a devastating blow because they’ve got the personnel who can handle it.”
Henderson has made 52 appearances this season, more than any other Liverpool player.
However, eight of his teammates have played more minutes across all competitions, including Fabinho.
The Brazilian has made 46 appearances and scored eight goals.
