Liverpool news: ‘Severe’ Andy Robertson development may hand Kostas Tsimikas extended run – pundit
Kostas Tsimikas will be “frustrated” with his lack of playing time at Liverpool but will not push for an exit, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted it would take a “severe run of poor form” for Tsimikas to replace Andy Robertson in the starting XI.
The Greece international was handed a rare start against Norwich City on Saturday (19 February) and provided an assist in the 3-1 win.
He told club media on Monday (21 February) challenging Robertson for a starting spot has given him “an extra boost to be the best”.
But Agbonlahor insisted it is unlikely he will get an extended run in Jurgen Klopp’s favoured XI.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the first names on the teamsheet if they are fit.
“It doesn’t matter about Joe Gomez, it doesn’t matter about Tsimikas, they are just that good. Unless they had a severe run of poor form they are in the side.
“It’s good to have competition. Chelsea had Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge battling it out for years and that took Cole’s performances up a level.
“I’m sure Klopp will be happy to have two quality left-backs.

“Tsimikas will be frustrated but you’re at Liverpool, you’re at a big club and you know there are players ahead of you.
“I’m sure he will want to play more but you understand that when you’ve got one of the best in the world in your position you’ve got to suck it up and fight to get in the team.”
In other news, Liverpool could sign the next Mohamed Salah after an ‘exceptional’ update.
