Twitter finds Sakho positive drug test amusing - and Liverpool fans join the banter
By Coral Barry
Liverpool confirmed on Saturday that Mamadou Sakho is under investigation for using a banned substance – and Twitter was alive with the sound of banter.
Sakho tested positive in a routine Uefa test for reportedly using a fat burning drug and Liverpool have decided in consultation with the player that he will not play for the club again until the matter is resolved.
Sakho faces a ban of at least six months and possibly even up to two years if he is found to have the drug in his system and been complicit in its use.
The Frenchman missed Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Newcastle and watched from the stands as the Merseysiders threw away a two-goal lead in the second half at Anfield.
Many Liverpool fans received the news with suspicion and dismay, but there were plenty of amusing reactions to the controversy, including a few gems from the Reds supporters.

I can understand why Sakho took them fat burning pills. If I had all those strikers in my pocket I'd probably think I was fat too

No surprise Sakho's recent good form wasn't actually due to him actually being half decent.

Given we paid £32m for Benteke & £36m for Andy Carroll. Sakho isn't the only one at the club on drugs trust me. #LFC
