Liverpool next manager: Tottenham expert shares ‘massive’ Postecoglou claim
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou will not leave to join Liverpool this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton hailed the Australian for his “massive” first campaign in north London and was adamant he wants to continue his project in N17.
Postecoglou, 58, has been linked with a switch to Anfield following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he will be departing at the end of the season.
However, Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim, who Football Insider revealed (7 April) is the club’s preferred Klopp replacement, was reportedly approached by West Ham United, but a switch to the Hammers now looks unlikely.
Ange Postecoglou will not be the new Liverpool boss – Hutton
With Liverpool’s new manager seemingly no closer to being confirmed, Hutton was unwavering in his view that Postecoglou has unfinished business at Spurs despite admitting his style would suit the Merseysiders.
“I can tell you this, I think in terms of the way Postecoglou plays football, he would suit a move to Liverpool,” he told Football Insider.
“We’ve seen what he’s been able to do at Tottenham in a short period of time, but I don’t think he’ll leave.
“Liverpool will have other options and Ange is happy with where he is.
“He’s working on something and it’s really working well at this moment in time.
“They’ve had blips, but that’s just due to the style and the way Tottenham play.

“Postecoglou will want to make his side better and he’s had a massive first season.
“I just don’t see Ange leaving, if I’m honest.”
