Barcelona are willing to offer attacking midfielder Arda Turan to Liverpool in an attempt to lure Philippe Coutinho to the Camp Nou this summer, according to a report.
Don Balon reports that the La Liga giants are prepared to include the 30-year-old in a deal with a substantial amount of money in order to convince the Merseyside club to part ways with Coutinho.
The Spanish outlet claims that Turan is not interested in a move to Anfield as he is adamant that he will only leave Barcelona to join another massive European club.
Since securing a permanent move to Barcelona from fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid two years ago, the Turkey international has failed to hold down a regular place in the starting line up.
The attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have been the preferred choices up top with Turan being occasionally deployed in the midfield.
However, the attacking midfielder enjoyed his best campaign in terms of numbers for Barcelona last season, contributing with 13 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
Turan currently has three years remaining on his contract at the Camp Nou.
Football Insider verdict
Liverpool should do everything within their power to keep Philippe Coutinho at the club this summer as it will send out a strong message around Europe. By sticking to their guns, it will demonstrate to clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona that they cannot come and take the league’s best talent so easily. The Brazilian was one of their best performers last season and despite his qualities, Turan would not be able to replicate Coutinho’s brilliance and impact on Merseyside. With the way Klopp sets up his side to play, Turan would struggle to secure a regular place even without Coutinho in the squad.
