Liverpool open ‘exploratory talks’ with new manager, Merseyside journalist responds on social media

Arne Slot’s future as Liverpool manager has been the subject of wide recent debate amid their shoddy Premier League form.

Liverpool were guided to the Premier League title in Arne Slot‘s debut campaign in charge of the club, but things have not gone to plan at all so far this season.

Some poor early performances were masked by last-ditch wins before they went on a run of four straight defeats in September and October, and their poor form has continued in the lead-up to Christmas.

Football Insider have revealed that questions are being asked of Slot behind the scenes at Anfield as he fails to get the best out of their star-studded squad this time around.

Liverpool are stuck sitting 12th in the Premier League and are all-but out of the title race already, yet he is not set to be relieved of his duties anytime soon despite rumours of a replacement being lined up.

Nagelsmann is not being lined up by Liverpool as they show faith in Slot

A report from Bayern Space, via X, earlier this week made waves online as it was stated that there had been contact between Julian Nagelsmann’s agent and Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes regarding the future availability of the German national team manager.

Liverpool had reportedly reached out for “exploratory talks” to understand Nagelsmann’s long-term intentions should the situation under Slot not get any better.

Despite those claims, Daily Mail reporter Dominic King has now reported, via X, that any talk about Nagelsmann being a contender to replace Slot is “nonsense,” as the Reds aren’t looking to change their manager right now.

Slot is not under pressure but must get the best out of Liverpool’s new stars

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (25 November) that Liverpool’s owners are not planning to sack Slot as he still has credit in the bank from last season.

Results simply must improve as soon as possible, though, or they could find themselves struggling to qualify for the Champions League and then facing a dire situation with top players wanting to depart.

Even though he still has the board’s backing, sources have told Football Insider that Slot is under pressure to persist with his under-performing stars, such as Alexander Isak, who cost the club a British record fee but has failed to impress so far this term.

Their US-based owners want to see the Dutchman get the best out of the likes of Isak, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, but it is currently unclear where their next run of good form will come from amid this latest two-game losing run.
