‘Liverpool paid off the referees’ – Bournemouth fans fume as footage re-analysed

Bournemouth fans were left feeling livid that Trent Alexander-Arnold wasn’t punished for a potential handball during their controversial Premier League fixture on Saturday (1 February).

Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win to end Bournemouth’s 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions following a brace from Egypt international Mohamed Salah.

However, the fixture was a frustrating one for Bournemouth fans who felt the first-half penalty shouldn’t have been awarded in Liverpool’s favour.

Cody Gapko was brought down inside the box in the build-up to that penalty, but former FIFA official Keith Hackett exclusively told Football Insider he didn’t believe the Reds should have been awarded a penalty.

Now another clip has surfaced from the match that has annoyed Bournemouth supporters after Alexander-Arnold seemingly controlled the ball with his arm.

The in-game decision was to play on as it was deemed the England international controlled the ball with his chest, but fans have differing opinions on the matter.

It was a game to forget for Alexander-Arnold as he was forced off due to injury, but Bournemouth supporters aired their frustration after the match.

Fans admitted the situation was “a bit frustrating” while others felt that it was a “handball all day.”
