‘Liverpool plan to accept cut-price Darwin Nunez offer as transfer plan revealed’

Liverpool will relax their asking price for Darwin Nunez later in the window if they are unable to shift him at their initial £70million demand.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 26-year-old is not in Arne Slot’s plans for next season.

Napoli, Atletico Madrid and a host of Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in landing the forward this summer, but may be made to wait for his fee to drop.

Football Insider revealed on 6 June that Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool this summer as they seek to upgrade in the centre-forward role.

However, there is an acceptance that they may need to lower their asking price in an attempt to force through a deal if an early-window agreement cannot be reached.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 12 April that Liverpool are planning for a busy transfer window and will use Nunez’s sale to fund new deals.

Liverpool to accept cut-price Darwin Nunez offer

Brown told Football Insider in March that Liverpool will allow Nunez to leave amid growing interest as they aim to move in a new direction.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that they will have to change their terms to reach an agreement.

Nunez is not part of the manager’s plans at Liverpool,” he told Football Insider.

“By all accounts, they want to sell him and there is plenty of interest in the move.

“The issue at the moment is the money Liverpool are asking for, around £70million, which clubs aren’t going to be interested in paying.

“When you’ve got a player you’re looking to let go of, you put yourselves in a tough position.

“As the window goes on, I have no doubts that price tag will drop to a level other clubs find acceptable, but Liverpool want to make the most money they can.

“They’ll use the money to sign a new striker, so it could play a big part in their budget.

“But if they don’t reach an agreement any time soon, they’ll have to lower that asking price and be prepared to play ball with the interested clubs.”

Joe Gomez exit update emerges at Anfield

Nunez is not the only player linked with a move away from Anfield this summer amid ongoing speculation surrounding the future of Joe Gomez.

Brown told Football Insider on 27 June that Gomez is “fed up” at Liverpool and could look to move away in search of more regular playing time.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that West Ham have joined the race for Gomez alongside the likes of Leeds United and Everton.

The Hammers are now weighing up making an offer for the defender should they be given an indication that he will be allowed to leave Anfield.
