Liverpool plotting to sign two Andy Robertson replacements – Insider
Liverpool are keeping tabs on the progress of both Antonee Robinson and Milos Kerkez as they line up moves to sign potential Andy Robertson replacements.
This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that want to sign a like-for-like replacement at left-back.
Football Insider revealed on 5 November that Arne Slot still sees Robertson as his first-choice left-back and is planning to open contract talks in the summer.
However, there is a growing feeling at Anfield that, while the Scotland international remains an important player, the signing of a younger option will be necessary to plan for the future.
Kerkez, 21, has become a crucial part of Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side and has started all 13 of their Premier League games so far this season
He has already made 21 senior appearances for Hungary despite his young age, and is also attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea and Man United.
The 27-year-old Robinson, meanwhile, represents more of a tried and tested option, but his performances for Fulham so far this season have caught the eye of the Reds’ scouts.
Liverpool tracking Milos Kerkez and Antonee Robinson progress
Brown told Football Insider on 14 November that Robinson is a “leading candidate” for clubs interested in signing a new left-back, including Liverpool and Man United.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at United during their most successful period, has insisted that Liverpool will step up their efforts to land a left-back in January.
“They want to sign a like-for-like replacement for Robertson,” he told Football Insider.
“Kerkez is a player who fits that bill, and I’m told they’ve been looking at Antonee Robinson from Fulham.
“Robertson has been a revelation for Liverpool, up and down that left flank he’s been so influential for them for so many years now.
“But I think they want to sign a younger option because they’re planning for the future.
“I wouldn’t expect Robertson to leave any time soon, he’ll still be there, but he’ll have to be replaced eventually, and they’re putting plans in place for that ahead of January.
“One issue is that there’s a lack of real top-class left-backs about, and lots of clubs who need one.

“But Kerkez and Robinson are two they’ve been looking at and there are probably others on their shortlist, so we’ll see what happens.”
In other news, Liverpool’s three priorities have been named ahead of the January window.
