Liverpool ‘priority’ is to finalise Trent Alexander-Arnold deal – sources
Liverpool have made it a “priority” to finalise a new contract for Trent Alexander-Arnold, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 25-year-old’s intentions are key to an agreement being finalised.
The right-back’s Anfield contract expires next summer, and he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Talks have already been hold over an extension but there has been no breakthrough yet in negotiations.
However, if he does end up running down his contract then Liverpool will be short in that area of the pitch.
Liverpool will turn to Jeremie Frimpong if Trent Alexander-Arnold leaves
Should Alexander-Arnold decide to leave the club, then Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong will be “right up there” on Liverpool’s list of potential transfer targets.
The 23-year-old is a slightly different player as he is more attack-minded and works as a wing-back rather than a traditional right-back.

Alexander-Arnold has made six appearances for Liverpool this season in all competitions, providing two assists.
Throughout his time at the club the right-back has made 316 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing 83 assists.
