Liverpool ready Ruben Amorim offer as ‘huge’ new details emerge – sources

Liverpool are ready to offer Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim a “huge” pay rise to come to Anfield, sources have told Football Insider.

The 39-year-old currently earns £50,000-a-week at Sporting, with the Reds planning to more than double that figure as their interest in appointing him increases.

Sources told Football Insider on Sunday (7 April) that Amorim is the number one choice to take over from Jurgen Klopp.

The German boss will leave Anfield at the end of the season, having made the exit announcement in January.

And although it is not a done deal, and terms are far from agreed, Amorim is the favourite to become the next Liverpool manager, with soundings having taken place behind the scenes.

Amorim, who represented Benfica and the Portugal national team during his playing career, has enjoyed great success in the dugout at Lisbon.

Having already won the league title with the club, another league title is looking likely this season, with Lisbon sitting top of the table.

The manager has also guided his side into the Portuguese Cup final, meaning a double is on the cards this season.

Amorim also narrowly missed out on a mouthwatering European clash with Liverpool, with Sporting losing to Atalanta in the Europa League round of 16, with the Italian club then drawn to face the Reds in the quarter-finals.

The Anfield club meanwhile are in line for more success under Klopp this season, having already lifted the League Cup.

The Merseyside outfit remain in the fight for the Premier League title, with the Reds currently second in the table, behind leaders Arsenal only on goal difference.
