‘Liverpool ready to unleash game-breaking plan – it could be best ever seen in football’
Liverpool have secured the Premier League title and will now turn attention to extending their dominance in England and beyond.
The Reds, under manager Arne Slot, won the trophy on Sunday (27 April) after establishing a 15-point lead over Arsenal.
Meanwhile, club owners Fenway Sports Group are pressing ahead with plans to establish a multi-club network.
Michael Edwards was appointed FSG’s Head of Football last year but they are yet to add to their portfolio despite links with Spanish side Malaga and French outfit Bordeaux.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on Liverpool establishing a game-breaking network.
Liverpool’s multi-club search is ‘intriguing’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Liverpool have “the best brains in the world” working on setting up their multi-club organisation the right way.
The Merseysiders recently poached Man City‘s director of football data Laurie Shaw – who will become Chief Scientist for FSG after a period of gardening leave.
Wyness claimed Liverpool’s move to follow in City’s footsteps could be “one of the most important developments in the game”.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Michael Edwards is head of the sporting side.
“He’s said the multi-club project was one of the reasons he came back to Liverpool.
“We know Malaga are a target, they’ve rejected Bordeaux before.
“Liverpool are putting together not just a group of clubs, it’s going to be a strategic mix and a genuine fit.
“These clubs will complement each other, and this approach hasn’t been done before.
“For me personally, I find this really intriguing.
“Hopefully, they can set the tone for how a multi-club network should be done, rather than just putting together a selection of clubs because they come up at a good price.
“Let’s see what Liverpool come up with. They’ve got some of the best brains in the world behind this.
“It could be one of the most important developments in the game, going forward.”

Liverpool make Elliott decision
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 21 April that Liverpool will not look to sell Harvey Elliott this summer despite his lack of action in the 2024-25 campaign.
The Reds view Elliott, 22, as an all-important homegrown talent with huge potential for the future.
Elliott has not started a single Premier League game since Slot succeeded Jurgen Klopp last summer (2024).
