Liverpool ‘really worried’ about Salah and Mane after Sky update – pundit

Alan Hutton cannot understand the “toing and froing” at Liverpool regarding new contracts for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed it would cost “crazy money” to replace the pair if they departed Anfield.

This site revealed earlier this month (11 December) that Liverpool are increasingly hopeful of agreeing new terms with Salah despite his £500,000-a-week wage demands.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday (19 December), manager Jurgen Klopp insisted “really good conversations” are taking place about the red-hot forward’s future at the Merseyside club.

Salah and Mane are out of contract at the end of the 2022-23 season.

When asked if Liverpool will be concerned about the duo’s contract situation, Hutton told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “Yeah, that’ll be a real worry for Liverpool.

“Obviously they’re not getting any younger. Salah and Mane are probably thinking about the last big contract of their careers. But they deserve it, that’s the thing. Just look at what they bring to the team.

“It’s going to cost you way more to replace them, and then pay the wages on top of that. It would cost crazy money to do that.

“It’s going to cost an absolute fortune, so I can’t see why there’s so much toing and froing there.

“Obviously it’ll be a lot of money to tie them down again. However, they are two guys who have shown their importance to Liverpool over a prolonged period of time.”

Premier League top scorer Salah has netted 22 Liverpool goals in all competitions this term.

Meanwhile, Mane has contributed nine goals and one assist in 24 games.

In other news, pundit fumes over Liverpool development ‘making a mockery’ of the Premier League.
