Liverpool rivals ready to swoop for Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace star’s long-term plan emerges
Liverpool’s leverage over a deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi may have diminished as rivals eye his signature but they may still end up winning the race anyway.
Guehi looked set to move to Anfield on deadline day before a deal fell through, with Crystal Palace unable to find a replacement for the England man.
Football Insider have since exclusively revealed that Liverpool have discovered Guehi’s new asking price if a move is to be sanctioned in January.
Guehi was understandably left frustrated at not being able to join Liverpool, but may have the choice to join even more clubs on a pre-agreement in January.

Marc Guehi still sees himself at Liverpool next season
The Reds were in pole position in their pursuit of Guehi before Palace reportedly pulled the plug on deadline day, and their advantage may now have been slashed with Liverpool refusing to revisit a move for Guehi in January.
The Telegraph suggest that other rivals are ready to join the race for the out-of-contract star next summer, but Liverpool are confident they will be Guehi’s club of choice.
The report suggests that Guehi, who has met with Liverpool representatives, sees his long-term future at Anfield regardless, as Liverpool aim to strike a pre-agreement with the former Chelsea man in January.
Liverpool’s move for Guehi is said to have effected negotiations with Ibrahima Konate over a new contract, but the hierarchy at Anfield still see a future for Konate at the club.

Assessing a move to Liverpool for Marc Guehi
Football Insider verdict
With the World Cup looming large next summer, Guehi will potentially be quite content with staying at Crystal Palace for a further nine months, with guarantees over playing time coming a lot easier at Selhurst Park rather than Anfield.
A move to Liverpool will see Guehi sit behind Virgil van Dijk and Konate in the pecking order, while summer signing Giovanni Leoni is also in the mix to get minutes for Arne Slot’s team.
Player | Age |
Virgil van Dijk | 34 |
Ibrahima Konate | 26 |
Giovanni Leoni | 18 |
Joe Gomez | 28 |
If Guehi is to make the switch to the North West he will want assurances over playing time as the centre-back enters a critical juncture in his development.
Guehi will be the talk of the January transfer window, wherever he lands, but the Crystal Palace club captain will want to ensure that any move guarantees him first team football.
