Mohamed Salah could ‘quit Liverpool’ as ‘huge offer’ expected – Whelan
Mohamed Salah could quit Liverpool next summer for another European giant – if a “huge offer” comes in.
That is according to ex-Premier League striker Noel Whelan as he assessed the Egyptian goal machine in the wake of a mixed start to the season for player and club.
Salah’s form has been much improved since a Champions League hat-trick against Rangers got his campaign properly up and running and he bagged his 11th goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds United.

But Liverpool’s decline, which almost certainly rules out any chance of a title challenge this season, will be a worry for the forward.
So says Whelan, even though Salah signed a lucrative new three-year contract in the summer to seemingly end speculation over his future.
That deal runs until the summer of 2025, by which time the Anfield legend will be 33.
“Another way of looking at it is that at the end of the season, Salah will have just two years left,” Whelan told Football Insider.
“A three-year deal wasn’t the most ringing of endorsements, or commitment, from either party.
“Look, Mo Salah is a Liverpool legend and whatever happens from here on in, his place in the club’s history is secure – his performances and goals have been incredible. He will go down as one of the club’s greatest ever.
“But he will be looking at his teammates, and the team’s performances, and be worried. How can you not be?
“Strange things happen in football all the time, and superstar players are happy to leave if it suits them, even if they’ve just signed a new deal. Look at [Kylian] Mbappe right now.

“Salah may easily think, ‘I can do better than this, I want to be challenging for the big trophies’. It could now be another few years before Liverpool are at that level again.
“If a huge offer comes in, which I would expect for a player of his calibre, he could think about it, for sure”.
