Kieran Maguire salutes 'forward-thinking' Liverpool after new reveal - 'this is the future'
Liverpool are a “forward-thinking” club and therefore well placed to capitalise on a new generation of football fans that consume media in different ways.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the results of a new survey from the European Club Association.
The ECA, who published their findings on Wednesday (14 September), canvassed 4,000 supporters for the Future of Fandom report.
They concluded that the majority of respondents in the 18-24 age bracket consume football media primarily through TikTok and YouTube as opposed to traditional mediums.
Liverpool have 10.9m and 7.7m followers on each respective platform, but there are concerns within the industry about how to monetise this engagement.
Maguire, however, forecasts that the Merseysiders will have plans in place to ensure they are able to squeeze profits from the next generation of fans.

“Generation X are more likely to consume football in bitesize chunks,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“I’m sure Liverpool will capitalise on this by ensuring that they have a variety of ways of engaging fans. This is the future of football.
“Often, these are player interactions with fans which take place outside the matchday environment. Liverpool are very forward-thinking when it comes to engagement with fans.
“They want to generate greater interest because greater interest means more ticket sales down and, in the shorter term, a greater chance of selling merchandise and products direct to the consumer.”
